When I went up into the mountains for my birthday, I came across the coolest fallen/twisted tree:

This was in the best little spot up on HWY 104.  I pulled off the road and started off into the trees where I was able to scramble along some rocks and get some really nice views of this valley (more on those shots in a later post).  When I found the fallen/twisted tree above, I was taken by the textures and wanted to see what I could shoot, which lead me to trying to get in really, really close.

As cool as that shot was, I continued shooting.

I really liked the way, in both shots, the wood curved almost like a wave.

Just trying a different angle.

The color in the shot above – I really like it.  Plus, the way the wood looks along with the color reminded me of fire.

Last shot – this one looking down at where the tree broke.

Again, it’s just fun to play around, zoom in, get the different textures and bring out the color.

That is a very cool tree, Patrick. Thanks for sharing.

Imagine what you could have done with a macro lens!

Beautiful work, Patrick. Thanks for letting us see your photos. Did the tree say anything interesting to you?

No. Trees don’t talk unless a Tree Ent comes along to wake em up, and they are few and far between these days…
