Tonight was the season premiere of Chuck on NBC.  Chuck is a guy who works for a Best Buy like company in the ‘Nerd Herd’ – think ‘Geek Squad’ and you’ve pretty much got it.  His arch enemy from college sends him an email one night that ends up getting downloaded into his brain giving him access to all sorts of top secret information.  This doesn’t sit well with the spy types who don’t like the idea that he’s got all their secrets in his head so they decide to kill him.  Then they realize that he can use those secrets to help the spy types fight crime, so they setup shop in the ‘Buy More’, give him a spy girlfriend who is way too hot for him and they go about solving crimes week after week.

Far out premise but it’s actually pretty funny.

This weeks premiere, Chuck Vs The First Date, had all the usual humor I’ve come to expect from Chuck – but the surprise was in the music, which got stuck in my head.

I admit it.  I used to love Huey Lewis and the News.  but I haven’t heard anything from them in a very long time.  I can’t remember the last time I heard one of their tunes, unless maybe it was in some random appearance of ‘Back to the Future’ on tv or something.

‘The Power of Love’ woke Chuck up and the next I know, I’m walking around humming the tune or outright singing the words.

“The power of love is a curious thing
Make a one man weep, make another man sing
Change a hawk to a little white dove
More than a feeling thats the power of love…”

ANYWHO, this curious hold on me tonight prompted me to take a stroll down memory lane, back to a time when the hair was big, MTV was covered in spandex, and a little band with a rock and roll soul, hit it big..

In short, I hit iTunes and bought their greatest hits!  🙂
