Friday Flick: The Cloverfield Paradox

The Cloverfield ParadoxUnofficial Description: I gave up after 28 mins. Seriously, this one is far too slow a burn for me. The mystery wasn’t compelling enough to keep me hooked and I ended up turning it off.

The premise should be compelling, so I’m not sure what, exactly, turned me off other than the pace of it. This is supposed to explain why the original Cloverfield movie happened – why the events in that movie took place. This movie is the genesis for that one, though not, technically speaking, a prequel. Yet the pacing of the film, the very low-key and performances lacking any real energy at the start, are what I think ultimately turned me off of this one.

Official Description: Orbiting above an Earth on the brink of catastrophic energy wars, scientists test a dangerous device that could provide unlimited power but also runs the risk of creating a terrifying paradox, leaving them face-to-face with a dark alternate reality.
