Official Description: It’s the ultimate buddy cop movie except for one thing: they’re not cops. When two struggling pals dress as police officers for a costume party, they become neighborhood sensations. But when these newly-minted “heroes” get tangled in a real life web of mobsters and dirty detectives, they must put their fake badges on the line.
Unofficial Description: Ok – I thought this movie looked amusing in the trailer, and, actually – it was. Much better than I thought it would be. It reminded me of the buddy cop movies of the 80’s. Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans are hilarious.
Essentially, neither is happy with his life. Johnson is a washed up ex-college athlete everyone thought would turn pro. Wayans is a video game developer who can’t seem to break through or get people to pay attention to him. His game is about being a cop, and he has full replicas of L.A. police officer uniforms as part of his game pitch/presentation. Johnson talks him into wearing the uniforms for a costume party, and the way the two are treated, changes everything. They become addicted to it, really. And it’s all fun and games until they get involved with real criminals. Then it’s the inevitable ‘find yourself and who you are’ kinda flick.
Well worth your time.
