Unofficial Description: I haven’t read the Hergé books, so I can’t compare this to those.  What I can do is say this: Wow!  What a great, fun movie!

In the special features, Spielberg talks about a French review of Raiders of the Lost Ark, wherein he kept seeing the word ‘Tintin’.  He thought it was a French word that meant ‘great’ or something.  He found out the reviewer was actually comparing Raiders to Tintin, and after watching this flick, I can see why.

Tintin is an investigative reporter who comes across the model of an old battleship from the days when pirates roamed the oceans.  Fascinated, he buys it on the spot only to have someone approach and try to buy it from him.  When he refuses, a second man appears and also tries to buy it.  Refusing the second offer, Tintin and his dog Snowy, return home and place the ship on the mantle.  Seconds later, while chasing a cat through the apartment, Snowy knocks the ship down, breaking the mast.  Unknown to Tintin, something rolls under the dresser.  Obsessed with the ship, Tintin heads to the library to research the ship.  While away, someone steals the model and the mystery deepens.

Tintin and Snowy travel around the world in search of the secret behind the models, meeting a wide range of characters and having a slew of adventures.

This flick had everything.  Highly recommend it.
