Friday Flick: Lockout

I wanted to start doing some movie reviews, so here I go.

Official Description: A renegade CIA agent (Guy Pearce), falsely accused of murder, must overcome a gang of ruthless prisoners held 50 miles above Earth and rescue the President’s daughter (Maggie Grace) in order to regain his freedom.

Unofficial Description: Whu?

Okay – first, I didn’t get that Snow (Guy Pearce’s character) was CIA.  I did get the falsely accused of murder bit.  As for the rest of it, well, it really was ‘Escape from New York’ in space.

I like Guy Pearce.  I like Maggie Grace.  I even like Luc Besson (writer-producer).  But this movie was weird.  Well done, but weird.

If you are a fan of space movies, don’t watch this.  If you like prison movies, um, no.  Fan of space prison movies?  Still no.  Watch it to see what Escape from New York would’ve been like on a budget without Kurt Russell.  Or good writing.
