I shared this on Twitter, but thought it was worth a post:

I call it ‘writer’s block’.  You can see Shadow the Cat sitting on the desk BETWEEN me and my laptop.  Sigh.  This is a usual occurrence.  He comes downstairs, crying, I tell him to come here, he mews a bit, climbs around on the shelves, ignores me, making his way around the edges of the room before stalking right up to me and proclaiming his existence, loudly, “MEOW!”

“What’s wrong?” I’ll ask.  More mewing.  Which is not mewling, nor meowing – it’s a sort of half-meow/whine. He then walks around the desk and hops up, sniffs stuff, and comes to rest in front of me.  Not touching me.  Not looking at me.  But barring me from the keyboard (which obviously bogarts my time better spent paying attention to him).

Nothing short of ten minutes of playing/petting/maybe giving him a snack as well will get him satisfied enough to leave me alone again.

Shadow needs attention from his pet human. Clearly! 🙂

Last night, I was talking with JohnD via Skype and Shadow hopped up, walked across the laptop keyboard, AND HUNG UP ON JOHN! MID-SENTENCE! I couldn’t stop laughing.
