Public toilets are tricky.  You have to be aware of the water levels…

You know what I’m talking about.

Whenever I work a tradeshow/convention for the day job, the first thing I do when I get home is take a shower.  I just want all the convention crud gone…

I hate tax time.

* * *

I also hate that tax time comes at the same time as renew the tags on my car time – both are taxes.  If you added up all the taxes you pay throughout the year, you’d shit yourself.

I ordered a kindle.

My freshman year in high school, the coolest thing was to ride the bus to school.  Not the school bus, the public bus.  The level’s of cool went like this:

  1. Drive your own Car
  2. Get a ride from a friend with a car
  3. Ride the public bus
  4. Ride a bike
  5. Walk
  6. Have your parents drop you off
  7. Ride the school bus

How often should you get a new mattress for your bed?

Slow people at drive-thru’s bug me.

Let me explain.  If you pull up to a drive-thru and you say, “Ummmm… yeah…  uh… that number 2?  uh….. so…. what.. uh… what comes with that?  Wait – is the number 3…. no, no… the number 2…. yeah… the number 2 – is that.. uh…. umm….”

I want to smack you.

I’m almost ready to write that Scrivener walk through’s I’ve been threatening to do…

Everyone needs validation.

Mine came in the form of a Social Media ‘expert’ – a guy who has started a business to help other businesses understand and use social media as part of their marketing strategies.  It was gratifying to have someone who does that for a living, essentially parrot the things I’ve been saying for years at the day job.

Example: Blogging.  I have been trying to get people on board with blogging for years with heavy, heavy resistance.  The only way they will go for it is if they can purchase pre-written content and duplicate it across multiple sites.  The problem with that is Goolge hates it when you do that.  As far as Google is concerned, multiple blogs/websites carrying the exact same content, could be plagiarizing that content.  So they will actually push your sites further down in the rankings – the exact OPPOSITE of what you want.

It was extra cool to have him up there saying that, because someone who has wanted to do that very thing, very badly, was sitting next to me…

Which Kindle did you order, Patrick?

I’ve learned that my blog is not for links and duplication of stuff–its for original things. Twitter and FB are for linking and pointing at other people’s work.

I ordered the $150 WiFi version.

It’s okay to copy/paste EXCERPTS from other blogs/sites as long as:

You don’t copy/paste the whole damned thing
You give credit where credit is due (ie, who wrote it, what site is it from, etc)
You comment on it – “Hey, saw this article written by Jon Snow over on about widgets – here’s the text: (copy/paste) Man – my take on this is…”
