This is my second week of cutting back on pop. I’m not cutting it out completely, I’m just cutting back – waaaay back…

I am not a fan of corporate speak. Words like synergy make my eyes gloss over. I’ve known people who use such words to cover for not doing their jobs. I’m sure that there are people who generally believe in corporate speak and jargon – buzz words, if you will, and apply them to their jobs and their coworkers well. It’s just those early experiences have burned me on it all.

With all the facetime FoodNetwork is giving to Chef Canora on The Next Iron Chef, I think the fix is in. They want us to like him but I already don’t. All he does is complain.

Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes! (animated, Disney XD) is a great example of why I feel Marvel appeals so much more to kids versus DC. Marvel really tries to have ‘dark’ characters, flawed characters, but I can’t think of one that stacks up to Batman – not even Daredevil or Wolverine.
They’re fun characters, don’t get me wrong. I enjoy a Marvel movie, like Spider-man – I can’t wait for the new Batman flick (or Green Lantern).

There is a difference between complaining and venting. Telling the difference between the two is important because sometimes people just need to vent.

Also, what about Punisher? Not dark enough?
The problem with Punisher is that he’s supposed to be this blood thirsty psycho who always happens to JUST miss killing some heavy Marvel baddies. Sure, he takes some people out – but never like, Magneto or Kraven or something.
I remember they’d have him appear in Spider-Man but he never actually killed Venom, for example. Cuz you can’t kill Venom. He’s too popular, so is Magneto. If Punisher were true to his impulses (& not controlled by an editor keen to keep the branding alive), there wouldn’t be any evil villains left on the roster!! He’d have killed em all by now!!

I’ve been giving thoughts to an online writer’s group. We could do a point system similar to DKP…
