- As a result, an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer wherein Jonathon takes a rifle up into the clock tower of Sunnydale HS to commit suicide is not aired (If you never watch another episode of Buffy, watch this one. It is absolutely fantastic and one of the best of the series, if not the best)
- Microsoft released Windows 98 (Second Edition)
- Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was released in theaters
- Napster, a revolutionary music downloading service, debuted
- Apple Computer released the first iBook laptop
- Apple Computer released the Power Macintosh G4
- Batman Beyond debuted on the WB
- Farscape debuted on the SciFi Channel
- Futurama debuted on Fox
- Angel debuted on the WB
- The Sixth Sense happened
- So did The Matrix
- …and the Mummy
- I affected a bad British accent and went around saying, “Do I make you horny? Do I?” cuz of Austin Powers
