I sent my 1st and a half draft short story (the first part was edited, the second was not) off to some friends to get some feedback. If you didn’t get it, don’t be offended – it’s not about you, it’s about me. I tried to pick folks I thought would give me honest, even brutal feedback. I’m waiting on two of those people to get back to me – everyone else already has.

I’m not complaining about that, btw – Just giving you the numbers.

The Good News thusfar is: No one hated it. No one said, “OH MY GAWD WHAT A STEAMING PILE OF FECES THIS IS THAT YOU HAVE TORTURED ME WITH!”

The Better News – A couple have said it was definitely pro quality, just needed some revision.

I have NOT fixed up the home office yet. Procrastination, thy name is me.

I need to paint, which means I need to spackle & fill in little holes and do all that stuff smarter people than me know how to do. Sigh.

I’ll get there.

There is a screaming baby over there *points across the crowded Noodles & Co.* I am not a parent, therefore, I do not understand the screaming baby paradigm. I mean, why do parents sit there, ignoring their child while he or she screams his or her head off in public? I think my mom would’ve marched me out the door by now when I was that age…

Looks like I’m taking a trip this year after all. I’ve purchased tickets & reserved a hotel room to attend World Fantasy Con 2010 in Columbus Ohio. John Anealio’s gonna go too, and some Sfsignal.com folks are going. Trying to talk John D into going too.

I am not a vacation guy. It’s a thing, believe me. I need to get better about stuff like that and take regular vacations or at least have regular downtime. I love to take trips, though. Let’s see – it’s been what – 2 years since Blizzcon? 3? That trip was punctuated by blisters on my feet and a hole in my wallet.

The screaming baby has left the building.

I had an old friend of mine send me the ‘woe is me email’ that we all write from time to time. Meanwhile, another old friend of mine sent me the ‘I’ve found my passion / am starting my own business’ email that we all wish we could write…

No WiFi at Noodles & Co.? WTF?

I think the podcast thing is teaching me more about the publishing industry than I ever could’ve learned on my own.

There is a drama llama in my life at the moment. I wish I could sack em like a Monty Python credit sequence.

The more I use Scrivener, the happier I am that I made the switch. I am constantly astounded at the little things that keep popping up to help me when I think, “I wonder if I can… OH! Cool! It’s in there!”

Looking forward to the weekend for some uninterrupted writing time. Well, except for cats…

    2 things:

-I feel teased about Scrivener, because I do not have a MAC.
-Regarding the baby, you WILL understand when you are (potentially) one day a parent. However, it does not mean that those reasons are the why of the aforementioned parental units. Some people do truly

…as I was going to say, some people do truly…click “Submit” when they really don’t want to. Ah well.
