I’ve been told on numerous occasions that what I think is easy when it comes to computers and technology is not, in fact, easy at all. For many people it’s quite difficult.
I call BS.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a user to know the basics of how their email client works, or how to Google things on the Internet, or how text messages on your phone works, or instant messaging or blogging or any of this stuff!
People! There’s a difference between ‘it’s too hard!’ and ‘I don’t wanna do it!’ If you don’t want to learn, then say that – don’t put it on me (or your IT guy/brother in law, cousin, kid in the garage down the street, creepy guy next door) and say it’s my/our fault for saying ‘it’s easy’!
Step up! Want to know how to create a distribution list in Outlook? LEARN! Want to start a blog? My GOD they make it so freaking easy are you kidding me? Facebook, Twitter, Myspace – COME ON! How can you not know how to do these things when they make it so freaking easy!
Embrace the pain, spank your inner moppet, whatever, but get over it and unleash your inner nerd!
