Don Sinclair Davis, our own ‘General Hammond’ from Stargate:SG1, passed away from a heart attack on Sunday, June 29th.
Mister Davis was a veteran character actor, best known for his appearances on some of my favorite shows including: Stargate SG-1 and The X-Files. He also played Major Garland Briggs in Twin Peaks but I never did watch that one.
He was 65 years old.
Of course for me, he will always be SG-1‘s Major General George Hammond. I always wondered why he left that show and now I find out that he had some medical issues that limited his ability to work. I also did not know that he met SG-1 co-star Richard Dean Anderson on the set of MacGyver, on which he worked as a stunt double for actor Dana Elcar. That sort of makes sense – the two actors do look similar. And it explains why someone from work said they thought he WAS the guy from MacGyver (Elcar).
Ah well, he will be missed.
